Family Tax Benefit Payment Dates 2026–27: Schedules & Timing

Last Updated: 14 September 2026Reviewed for 2026–27 Legislation•Editorial & Calculation Policy
Quick Answer

Family Tax Benefit is paid every two weeks (fortnightly) into your nominated Australian bank account on your designated Centrelink payment cycle day. When a regular payment day falls on an Australian national or state public holiday (such as Christmas, Easter, or ANZAC Day), Centrelink issues payments early. Alternatively, families who elect to receive FTB as an annual lump sum receive their payment after lodging their tax return during July to October.

Key Facts at a Glance (2026–27)

  • Fortnightly payments are credited every 14 days based on your individual Centrelink schedule.
  • Payments due on public holidays are processed early to ensure timely receipt.
  • Annual lump sum claims and end-of-year supplements are released 2–4 weeks after tax return lodgement.
  • Check upcoming individual payment dates via the Express Plus Centrelink app or myGov.

1. Fortnightly Payment Cycles & Schedules

Family Tax Benefit is paid on a rolling 14-day cycle into your nominated Australian bank account. Centrelink assigns recipients an individual payment cycle day based on their customer reference number (CRN).

Payments are normally credited to your bank account early in the morning of your payment day. Depending on your financial institution (e.g. Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, NAB, Westpac), funds are usually accessible between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM AEST.

2. Public Holiday Early Processing Rules

When a scheduled payment date falls on an Australian national or state public holiday (or bank holiday), Services Australia processes payments earlier, not later.

Christmas & New Year

Payments due on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Year's Day are brought forward to the closest business day before the holiday period begins.

Easter (Good Friday & Easter Monday)

Payments due over Easter are paid on the Thursday prior to Good Friday.

3. Tax Time Balancing & Supplement Timeline

If you receive FTB as an annual lump sum or are waiting for your end-of-year supplements ($970.90 / $478.15):

  • July 1: New financial year begins; tax lodgements open with the ATO.
  • Mid-July to Late-August: Most individuals lodge tax returns. ATO pre-fill data completes.
  • August to October: Services Australia completes FTB balancing and issues lump sums directly to bank accounts within 14–28 days after both partners lodge.

4. Checking Your Payment Dates on myGov

You can check your upcoming individual payment dates and payment amounts at any time:

  1. Log into your myGov account and select Centrelink.
  2. From the main menu, navigate to Payments and Claims > My Payments.
  3. View your next payment amount and expected delivery date.
